2016 Awards Reception: Building a Better D.C. for All

Flyer logo

Join us on September 22, 2016 at our annual awards reception where we will honor the contributions of our pro bono partners on our Affordable Housing, Early Care, Gun Safety, Special Education, and Workforce Development projects.  All of these partners are helping to Build a Better D.C. For All.

The evening will begin with a reception at The Mead Center for American Theater, Arena Stage (1101 6th St. SW)  6:00 pm, and at 7:30 pm we will adjourn to the Kogod Cradle Theater for the evening’s program from 7:30 pm until 9:00 pm.

Our emcee will be Shelley Broderick, Dean of the UDC David A. Clarke School of Law, and our keynote speaker will be Monty Hoffman, the founder and CEO of PN Hoffman. Mr. Hoffman will bring us up to date on the development of The Wharf on the Southwest waterfront and how that development is bringing more jobs and affordable housing to the city.

We will also hear from a panel of distinguished Supreme Court lawyers who will discuss the future of the Court. This will include commentary on two landmark cases that are important to DC Appleseed’s work on gun safety and campaign finance reform, District of Columbia v. Heller and Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.  The moderator for the panel will be Marcia Coyle of the National Law Journal, a regular Supreme Court commentator on the PBS NewsHour and the author of The Roberts Court.
